Interesting Piano Facts
The piano was invented in 1709 and originally called the pianoforte because of its ability to play the notes both loud and soft. The piano has over 12,000 parts, 10,000 of which are moving. Many of the moving parts of a piano are found in the action which is the mechanical part of the piano that transfers the motion of the fingers on the keys to the hammers that strike the strings and produce sound. Over time, normal wear and tear on a piano requires the action to be regulated. This involves adjusting all the moving parts of the action so that it can respond to the pianist’s commands and be controlled. A piano that is well regulated is a pleasure to play on. Here at Hulbert Piano we invested in a highly specialized tool seen below to regulate actions.
